Sunline introduces another original and innovative technology in processing braided lines, called "P-Ion Technology". The Plasma Rise Technology process, alters the fibers to make them slicker and more abrasion resistant. A product of this new technology is the X Plasma Asegai, 8 strands, tightly woven, braided PE.
The “Plasma Ion Technology” developed by Sunline, for short called P-Ion, alters the surface of the raw fibers and improve their characteristics. The Gas Plasma treatment of fibers is not something new in the textile industry. The unique properties and characteristics of fibers such as Kevlar and Spectra offer an opportunity to develop composites, with strength to weight ratios never before attainable. With the increasing demand on product performance, Cold Gas Plasma Treatment technology has emerged as the preferred method for treating fibers to enhance their properties. A gas plasma is created by the introduction of the braided line, into a vacuum chamber and using the P-Ion technology to produce polyethylene fibers of ultra high strength, by altering their surface.
As a result of the Gas Plasma technology, the slickness of the Sunline Asegai braided line has improved dramatically. This means you can cast lures farther, due to the reduced friction with the rod guides. At the same time the Sunline X Plasma Asegai enables the angler to maintain the lure’s momentum in the water.
When Sunline tested the abrasion resistance, using their own testing device, with rollers and a 50 gr sinker, the results showed a large difference and in particular an 117% improvement compared to standard braided lines. Hence you can feel safer not to have the line cut, when fishing amongst structures.
X Plasma Asegai has a smooth surface and strong water repellency, making it harder for water to penetrate to the core of the braid and in between the fibers. This means that the line is unlikely to absorb water, reduce entanglements and make handling and casting easier.
Sunline conducted further tests with the X Plasma Asegai line, which as to measure the weight of the line, after it had been soaked in water. Standard line's weight increased by 2.5 times, due to water absorption, however the X Plasma Asegai increased only by 8%. This was an incredible finding, as keeping the initial weight means that you can cast the lures with comfort all day and that you will be able to keep aiming at desired spots thanks to high castability.
The Sunline Asegai is being produced in Light Green color.
