The Shimano Grappler BB is a light jigging, baitcasting reel that goes far and beyond the performance levels of standard, baitcasting reels.

Although the Grappler BB is an entry level reel, that is easy for beginners to handle, in practice it is a Light Jigging and Tai Rubber reel, with an oversized knob, a long power handle (60mm) that allows the angler to exert strength, when fighting big prey. The Grappler BB is packed with progressive Shimano Technologies that make this Baitcasting reel a workhorse in vertical fishing styles, at an attractive price.

A new rigid and tough Hagane Body, coupled with the X Protect technology will expand the reel’s longevity and resistance against seawater protection. Furthermore, the level wind linked to the release of the braid during fall and retrieve, is working smoothly.

The Shimano Grappler BB will allow the angler to take advantage of the finest braided line, which is the biggest strength in Light Jigging and at the same time battle with unexpected large fish, with confidence. To that purpose, technology Super Free System, allows the spool to unwind the braid in a consistent, trouble-free way and the lure to reach the end of the water column.

The Lever Wind functions even in the Free Spool function ensuring that the braided line leaves the reel with minimal friction.

SVS infinity Braking System

Shimano's newest innovation in brake system technology, SVS Infinity provides easy-to-manange, consistent spool control and brake force. With brake weights that use 'inner friction' against the raceway during the cast, SVS Infinity controls spool speed for precision casting especially when using lighter lures. The external adjustment knob provides quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch baits.

Hagane Body

The Hagane Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power.

XProtect

The contact type triplelip structure is introduced to the roller clutch, the pivotal point concerning water resistance. In this structure, the first lip prevents water from entering through the space between the rotor and the body. In addition, the special grease between the second and third lip where it makes contact with the rotor collar located at the upper part of the roller clutch not only resists water from entering but also minimizes friction resistance. Without jeopardizing the ‘silky smooth rotation capacity’, the vital feature of STELLA SW, exceptional water resistance, has been achieved to withstand the crashing and splashing of waves and spray.

SA-RB

SA-RB Bearings have been through the same process as Shimano's A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation.

Super Free

The Super Free bearing-supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
