Hayashi Drop Shore Light Jig

Hayashi introduces a light, metal jig for Shore Jigging that is very easy to use. Very few jigs in the Ultra Light Shore Jigging category have been designed in such an unorthodox manner, as the Hayashi Drop Jig. In its course of life, it has acquired creative nick names due to its unique shape, such as “the pocket knife”, or “Batman’s jig” and for that reason alone, it holds a special place in each angler’s tackle box. It is its unique shape that enables it to produce a rather peculiar motion with numerous retrieval techniques.

The first feature that will impress you is the way the Drop Jig sinks, both in Free Fall, or with your line a little tight, producing a slight resistance (Tension Fall). Its natural sinking with wobbling, even when the reel’s bail arm is closed, is very attractive. With a Free Fall, both its sinking and its posture during pauses is natural and helps us understand the main idea behind its creation. The fact that that it is center balanced is also evident. The characteristic flat body with a protruding belly, causes an irregular fall and while it is falling it flutters, so it can induce bites from a wide range of fish species.

Let’s examine closer some interesting facts about the way it is fished. The Hayashi Drop Jig is an easy to handle bait. It responds instantly to our commands, both to Twitches and Jerks, hence it can be regarded as a Quick Response Jig. In the field of Light and Hard Rock Fishing, or Light Spinning, the tools we use (rod, leader, braid) ought to be light and sensitive, so they do not create “noise” and accurately transmit micro-orders to our lures. By making the tip of the jig pointy, the pulling resistance is lighter and the angler can operate the jig all day long, without fatigue.

The response of the Hayashi DropJig to our rod’s twitches is intensive and irregular. This means that the Hayashi Drop Jig sways to various directions with each and every jerk, rising to the surface with its head looking towards the surface and then retains a horizontal position until the next jerk. This is not a common feature to many Light Shore Jigs and it adds points to the realistic presentation of this jig.

The Drop Jig has been designed for intensive Jerking and long pauses. But you can also create a presentation with quick retrieve and irregular Twitches.

Furthermore, Hayashi covered the bottom of the jig with glitter and dares predators to bite the belly. On top of creating an impressive effect that flashes, the glitter surface peels off, imitating scale being bitten off, just like the case of small bait fish.
