Named "Bee" because of its cute shape like a honeybee, it has the power to attract many fish with its unimaginably sharp action from its seemingly adorable form.
It has a tiny silhouette. It acts like a demon. It is the Slow Bee. Named "Bee" because of its cute shape like a honeybee, it has the power to attract many fish with its unimaginably sharp action from its seemingly adorable form.
This is a Super Light Jigging (SLJ) jig, by Xesta. The ultimate purpose of any fishing lure is to increase the hooking rate of any given fishing style. With the Slow Bee, Xesta is addressing two fishing techniques, namely Inshore Shore Slow and Offshore Super Light Jigging.
The popularity of Slow Pitch jigging and the unraveling of it secrets is only expanding in the last, few years. What happens when you bring this fishing method to the Shore Jigging scene? The main modification a designer needs to consider is that the action of the lure needs to be revealed in a diagonally upward motion, as is the case with casting. Therefore, Xesta carved the body of the Slow Bee to accommodate for the water resistance flowing in a horizontal direction, in areas with low water depth.
Xesta gave to the Slow Bee the shape of a teardrop that falls quickly to the bottom. If you look at its profile, you will notice the asymmetry in its shape. This is because Xesta wants the Slow Bee to produce a different action when its is sinking and when it is being retrieved. The shape of the jig, produces a stable flight during casting and flies straight to the strike zone, without rotation.
By rigging the jig with a very short Single Assist hook on the front and a very short, Double Assist hook on the tail, you can bring about strikes during both the fall and jerk phase.
