Hyper Shield is top layer, plating coating that depending on the concentration of salt, in the water that you are fishing, might turn black, as a result of a chemical reaction called oxidation. This change of color of the plating, is exactly that: a change of color and nothing more. It is not rust, or corrosion. Actually, the plating becomes harder, does not peel off and does not move on to the inner parts of the hook.
