With the Smap series, Ryobi aims to introduce Japanese technologies and quality standards, in an attempt to improve their performance, without raiding the price. The Ryobi Smap are light weight, waterproof fishing reels, with metal spool and very strong, smooth, high performance drag system. At the same time the Drag Knob allows you for micro-adjustment of the drag resistance, when sensitive, micro-lines are used. The bail arm is thick and can handle hard fights.

The edge of the spool is V-Shaped allowing the line to smoothly unwind, assisting in long and accurate casts.

The rotor of the Ryobi Smap is at an outward angle, a feature that enabled the Ryobi designers to decrease the size of the reel, provide smoother handle rotation and better balance by reducing inertia force on the rotor.
