One could argue that the Shore Slow fishing technique is the “Spiritual Child” of company Palms, but also a child of a notorious Japanese angler, named Numata Junichi.

The Shore Slow fishing has its origins in Slow Pitch jigging from a boat and it is the evolution of that technique from the shore. The Shore Slow is now famous worldwide and it is practiced by experienced anglers, as an In Shore technique that requires finesse and experience. The pillars of this technique are the special rods and the special jigs which are made exclusively for Shore Slow.

The Shore Slow is targeting a great amount of fishes from White Seabream to Amberjack and Dentex. Its great advantage is that it can unlock fish even at times when they don’t eat actively, while it can explore specific parts of the water column with great consistence and in detail. So company Palms welcomes you to the fascinating world of the most technical fishing style with jigs, called Shore Slow. Meet the best rods worldwide for this technique, in particular the Shore Gun Evo 990 to 993.

With the Shore Slow technique, an angler’s purpose is to use his jig, to catch fish that either do not feed actively, or seem weary and do hunt aggressively. In this case the presentation of our jig is controlled with milder rod moves, than those of Shore Jigging and their motion is more detailed, more focused and more precise. In Shore Slow, our jig fishes more at a particular spot and doesn’t “run”, or goes through the water column quickly from the bottom up to the surface as in Shore Jigging.

Another reason why this particular type of Shore Jigging is called “Slow” is because there are longer pauses between two sets of rod jerks Numata Junichi himself clarifies, in one of his most important interviews ever. However, in the Shore Slow technique, one can apply fast jerks, as with Shore Jigging. For more information about this fishing technique, we recommend you to watch a series of tutorial videos made by Palms here.

The rods Shore Gun Evolv have been designed specifically for the Shore Slow technique and they are world widely known as the best rods for it. All the models have the same length, 9 feet and 9 inches (a little over than 3 meters) but they have different Casting Weight and a different action, starting from the lighter model 990, up to the heavier Model 993.

The rod that someone will choose depends on many factors, but mainly it depends on the weight, type and way of usage of the jigs. For example, the 990 Shore Gun Evo can cast jigs up to 25 gr and handle them with light jerks, which will make them look like small baitfish, when the 993 model can handle jigs up to 60 grams imitating bigger fish, that move more actively and will be hunted by bigger predators.

The Palms Shore Gun Evo for Shore Slow possess the necessary tip sensitivity and accuracy that are needed, in order to accurately present slow jigs. If we are to take a closer look to their properties, we could say that they lay on the verge of Regular in strength and Fast in action, but they really go beyond that. Their blank has been manufactured with the X-Carbon Technology that offers many benefits, amongst which is the necessary progressive response in order to handle the jigs and to easily tackle fighting prey. The X-Carbon Technology is an effective reinforcement system, that helps the rod improve its performance, by cross blending carbon fibers, in an X shape. Along with weight reduction, the rigidity of the blank, and its twisting power towards any direction has been increased. At the same time they have the ability to place solid hooks and have such strength in their blank capable to bring ashore the strongest fish.

For this reason the rods for Shore Slow by Palms, literally cannot be replaced by others, if you want to effectively exercise the particular fishing style. Palms has established an entire “School of thought” when it comes to the Shore Slow technique.

All Palm rods are equipped with stainless guides and a reel seat by Fuji and the highest quality of EVA grips.

Model 990

This extremely Light rod for Shore Slow, is specialized in Super Light Shore Slow. It is perfect for jigs between 7 and 25 gr. Its length is 9 feet and 9 inches and weighs 161 gr. It can be combined with braid between PE 0.3 to PE 1.2. It has been tested in the Mediterranean waters with great success at False Scads, White Seabreams, Saddled Seabreams but also at smaller fish like European Barracudas, Common Seabreams and Common Pandoras.

Model 991

The Light rod of the series is 9 feet and 9 inches long and weighs 173 grams. It is perfect for jigs between 10 and 30 grams and braid PE 0.6 to PE 1.5. It is a classic but very technical rod for Shore Slow. It is very slim, but will succeed with tough fish, where other, heavier rods tend to fail. It is a rod for the mainstream fans of the technique.

Model 992

It is the basic rod of Shore Slow, the tool with which someone can begin to learn the technique. It is the model that allows the angler to “feel” the Shore Slow technique and decide on factors such as the kind of fish it attracts, the depth at which it becomes productive, the weight of the jigs, etc. It balances between Light and Hard, Slow and Fast. It is able to handle jigs starting at 20 to 40 gr, it weighs just 205 grams and can handle braid from PE 0.6 to PE 2.0

Model 993

The rod of Shore Slow for big jigs and very active gameplay with bigger prey that are feeding actively. It is an amazing rod for the Mediterranean waters in case that we want to fish with jigs that until today, their relatively little weight didn’t help our game. With Casting Weight between 30 and 60 gr and a total weight of 232 grams, the Palms 993 Shore Gun Evo is capable to handle braids between PE 0.8 to PE 3.0. This is a rod that will successfully handle Dentex and Amberjacks, as it can tempt them with the most technical way and it has disciplined them with its strength. A rod for the friends of Shore Slow who want to test the technique at its maximum and confront big opponents.

Original Setting of K Series Guides

All models have K series guides as per their original settings. By evaluating their optimal size, number and arrangement for each game style, Palms has achieved a balance that allows the full utilization of the performance of the blank. It offers a comfortable feel during casting, long casting performance, and linear handling that is free from useless vibration for rod work. The Palms rods incorporate a pack of accessories dedicated to attention of every detail (Video).

SiC Ring Guide

All Palm models use SiC ring guides, that protect your braid against wearing out and offer long-lasting performance, even under severe usage conditions (Video).

Technology X Material

The Shore Gun Evolved blank utilizes a high-elasticity material, centered around the butt section. The particular blank design technology, draws out the benefits of the highly elastic material, offering a sharp cast feeling and further improvement in long-distance performance. They all raise the upper limit of the torque of the rod.
