Can one create the prefect In-Shore jig? Yes, if this project is the result of a lifetime’s experience fishing with shore jigs and all the pro’s and con’s have been identified. Such a project has been undertook by Savage Gear which, for a long time now has been advancing to address the vast majority of Mediterranean anglers, with progressive and highly effective lures, that have been designed after extensive tests.

The shape and size of the Savage Gear Needle Jig has been based on a real Needlefish. The Needle Jig is the perfect metal imitation of a needlefish. The aesthetic aspect of this imitation, the life-like details of its body, the selected colors and every element that makes the Needle Jig looking like a real fish, has been based on a 3D scan. Even its eye is as close as one can get to a real one. The difficult part however was not to make the lure look like a real needlefish, but to make it move like one.

The first principle that Savage Gear applied in the making of the Needlejig is to make the body as slim as possible. And they did. Incomparable attention was placed in the geometric of this jig. In their second year, the Needle Jig family has expanded to include sizes at 7 and 20 gr, so as to meet the needs of Light Shore Jigging enthusiasts. At the same time 3 new colors have been added in the assortment, that match the thriving colors of the Mediterannean. Color Mackerel Ayu is ideal for those days when the sun is shinning, the sea is calm and the fish seem reluctant to respond. Color Full Glow is a color of strong appeal during the Winter, when light is low and the weather is cloudy. If you do try it in sunny days, the Full Glow functions as a response color. Finally the third new color is the Pink Belly, an all weather and season color, which combines natural and intensive colors in one jig.

Such shore jigs aim to crafty and aggressive predators, hence the finishing must be such to withstand attacks without any color deformation. All colors have undergone UV treatment and some have glowing effects, for those anglers fishing at night time. All colors are popular in the Mediterranean and there is definitely one color for each time of the day.
