Shore Jigging has become increasingly popular in recent years and few rods fully address the needs of demanding in-shore anglers. The Daiwa Spartan is a Shore Jigging rod series that is perfect for anglers who want to upgrade their equipment.
Shore Jigging has become increasingly popular in recent years and few rods fully address the needs of demanding in-shore anglers.
The Daiwa Spartan is a Shore Jigging rod series that is perfect for anglers who want to upgrade their equipment. This Daiwa rod produces torque like nothing you have ever felt, or seen before. The Shore Anglers have definitely heard, or will hear at some point about this legendary rod by Daiwa. The Spartan... is a true warrior in your arms. Hand-made in Japan, the Daiwa Spartan rod has been designed to be the high strength model of the Saltiga range. To attain this power, Daiwa has used carbon fiber material for the improvement of torsion-resistance and special "High Lift Torque” construction technique, which creates high lift power and a high torque rod.
The Daiwa Spartan is a full-fledged rod in the world of shore jigging, that attracts SW lure anglers. While inheriting the DNA of "Shore Spartan", which has a proven track record as an expert's arm, it is equipped with functions and specifications to meet the needs of a wider range of anglers, such as the lightweight casting feel, due to the HVF Nano Plus Blank and the mild bent curve by incorporating the 3DX, which is a resilience enhancing material.
Although Daiwa incorporated into the Spartan series, a non-exposed grip shape and blanks that can withstand heavy use and a black coating that is resistant to scratches, they achieved a weight reduction that is comparable to lighter rods. The combination of high-density HVF carbon material, with a blank fitted with the optimal construction technique “X45” that prevents twisting, combines the strength required to handle a heavy jig, with the sensitivity needed to feel a light lure. Yes, the Spartan can equally well cover a wide array of styles from Spinning to Heavy Shore Jigging.
The internal section of the blank uses "High Volume Fiber” carbon with bias wrap construction to create a thick layer core tubular blank, similar to the other Saltiga rods. The Spartan series also introduces Daiwa's specially designed heavy duty reel seat.
Conventional carbon fibers are always layered in a 90° angle - the new X45 material features a 45° angle and is combined with 0° and 90° layered carbon fibers. This construction makes the rods stronger and more distortion-proof. Despite the increased distortion resistance, the flexibility of the rod is maintained. This implies that X45 rods are not only stronger and cast more precisely, but also support the angler at the presentation of delicate lures and at ending the fight with the fish safely. X45 offers the perfect balance of strength, control and elasticity.
Daiwa did not stop here, but applied many other innovation in the Spartan, one of which is the peculiar design of the Fuji Sic KW guides, which minimize abrasion, maximize the casting distance and disperse the temperature caused due to friction. The closer we get to the rod's tip, the closer the guides bring the braid to the rod's blank.
The Daiwa Spartan, despite its strength, will allow you to cast lures and jigs for hours, without putting burden on your arm and body, hence it is recommended for those who are not confident in their physical strength.

X45: This fabrication process is the superposition of spiral carbon fibers (90 °), unidirectional (0 °) fibers on three layers and two carbon layers laid by two opposing helical windings (45 °). These two additional crosswinds have given the name of Bias Cross Wrap.
V-Joint: The structure of the V-Joint is a Bias carbon coiled at 45 °. It improves the curvature and the action of the rod to the compression of the blank, during a launch or a fight. The Bias carbon of the V-Joint fitting has a perfect morphological memory and returns to its initial position as soon as the force exerted on the blank ends.
HVF: Reduction of the quantity of resin and increase of the degree of adhesion of the carbon fibers during the hot polymerization phase.
