The Belly Shad is definitely one of the trickiest silicone lures for Seabass and Light Rock Fishing species such as the Saddled Seabream and White Trevally. Made by a special, very soft, sturdy and life like textured material that compels the fishes to strike again and again, even after failed attempts. With regards to their motion, there are two points to stress. First, the silicone bears two “hollow cuts” on its body, which produce vibrations that can be detected by nearby fish, while moving. Secondly their bulky, paddle tail which moves vividly at every command of our rod, or even by the slightest current, or as it descents in the water column.

The Maximus Belly Shad silicone bait, has a length of 4.5 cm and a mouthful, chunky body that ends up in a paddle tail. As bulky as it may seem, the lighter and softer it is when in the water. The whole body and the tail moves vividly even at the slightest water current and comes alive very easily, with each single subtle jerk. What is more important, the Maximus material has the potency to provoke fishes to attack it repeatedly. The texture of the material is so soft and life like. Many fish (especially very suspicious Seabasses) get very close to the lure, they nimble it before striking, or they even push it softly with their bodies to test it.

So we are talking about a silicon lure that targets the most suspicious fishes in the most fished-up spots. It can be rigged with Carolina/Texas Rigger, offset hook, but better yet with a jig head. We propose a nice set up with Major Craft’s Bunta Swimming Type jig head for steady, slow retrieves, and with Major Craft’s Bunta Darting Type for nervous presentations and lots of jerking and twitching.

The Maximus Belly Shad Silicon Lures are made of a specialized silicone formula that mimics - apart from the movement and the smell of prey fish - their very texture. It thus produces more strikes, even when fishes are reluctant and bite very cautiously. They encapsulate the special flavor that each Maximus bait contains and releases it, while the silicone is in the water, or during bites. If you miss a strike, just keep on retrieving and you will see that attacks will continue.
