Shimano Catana EX Spinning

The Catana Spinning EX is the replacer for the Catana Spinning DX, a renewed and improved model. The blank is slightly changed and matches the communicated casting weights perfectly now.

The new design is modern and notable, definitely with the new Seaguide XSS reel seat with Vibraspot. The Catana rod range is developed to be very versatile and has a models for every kind of fishing style and lure. That's why the action of this rod is 'moderate-fast'. This means it's a rod with a nice progressive action which is ideal for all-round usage.

Shimano employed in the new Catana Spinning rod the Sea Guide XSS reel seat. The Sea Guide XSS is a unique design reel seat, lighter in weight, that increases the rods' performance. Combined with Vibra Spot's ergonomic sculpting of the front grip, the rod reveals the blank, gives a much better grip on the rod for casting and playing action, but more importantly puts your finger on the pulse, to feel each twist, turn and lunge of fish on the end of the line. The Vibra Spot on rods is extremely effective when using braided reel line. The two blank-exposing holes allow your finger to be in direct touch the blank and that improves your response time on hooks and strikes.

In addition there is a new, special type of sliding hood/nut, made of reinforced nylon body without a level difference between them.

Made of Carbon XT-40 & Geofibre a naturally derived component delivering high rigidity, high compression strength and high tensile strength to rods.

XT-40 & Geofibre - The Shimano Catana Spinning EX is made of XT-40 Carbon and Geofibre, a naturally derived component delivering high rigidity, high compression strength and high tensile strength to rods. XT Carbon is used throughout the Shimano rod range. The number following the XT (XT100), denotes the quality of carbon fibre used. The higher the number, the stronger the carbon. Where different types of carbon are combined to create the required action both numbers will be shown (XT60/40).
