It was a matter of time before Yamashita (야마시타) would surpass… itself. This time the Japanese manufacturer has discovered the sound to which squids react the most.

The metallic rattle ball that creates the necessary sounds to attract squids, can vary in terms of size and thickness. After excessive testing of over 30 different samples, Yamashita (야마시타) achieved the golden ratio. To make things even more complicated, Yamashita (야마시타) did not come up with the rattling sound that is most appealing to the human ear, instead it took scientific testing to the squids themselves.

The Yamashita (야마시타) Live Search squid jigs (에기) feature a number of unique features, but what sets this jig apart is the 600 hz rattle inside the body. Yamashita (야마시타) have discovered after much research with a leading Japanese University that squid can pick up sounds between 400hz and 1400hz with 600hz being the optimum level for squid to be most interested. The Yamashita (야마시타) Egi Q Live Search squid jigs (에기) use tungsten balls that emit the sound of the most sensitive and easy frequency in the water.

To achieve the 600hz Yamashita (야마시타) needed to change the plastic body material to a bone plastic material and use stainless steel bearings (not glass or plastic). This combination results in a high pitch rattle that no other jig on the market can replicate.
