A new Eging King has appeared. The Yamashita Egi OH King Search Squid Jig is a high-appeal lure, that specializes in targeting highly active squids, using flashing and rattling sound effects, as they search.

This Yamashita squid jig is packed with technologies, such as the well-known Warm Jacket, Neon Bright, but also new ones such as the Strobe Fin.

Squids exhibit an amazing physical development, during its lifespan of just one year. The main food that supports their growth is fish and the reflections emitted by their scales and body are important signals towards squids, that transmit the presence of food. Yamashita developed the Strobe Fin on the back of the lure, which generates a strong fluttering motion, when faced with water resistance, as when jerking. This fluttering action produces a strong flashing effect, reflected from the side of the Egi’s body, which strongly appeals to the visual senses of squids.

The body of the Yamashita Egi OH King Search has a wide, flat side and on the inside an extra thin layer of reflective foil, that sends flashes of light to the surrounding environment.

Yamashita tried various combinations of body materials and rattle materials, that can affect the quality of the rattling produced. While maintaining the basic performance of the Egi, Yamashita can produce sounds centered on 600Hz, which is said to be the most perceptible to the hearing of squids.

The Yamashita Egi OH King Search, is a squid jig designed to explore areas. Yamashita has designed it to descent a little faster, than the basic type, so you can search for highly active squid at a fast pace.

The Yamashita Egi OH King Search has the most stable sinking posture and is a true value in all weather conditions. They are equipped with a breakthrough development in squid design, the Hydro Fins, that were developed and mounted in order to achieve swimming action. The transparent Hydro Fin plays a role, such as the rudder in a ship, that eliminates wobbling in windy and wavy conditions. With the Hydro Funs the K Series squid jig (에기) will continue to sink in a straight line. Another factor that Yamashita (야마시타) successfully tackled with the Hydro Fin, is the excessive darting action, from left to right, that squids find unattractive. The effect of the Hydro Fin is not to inspire unnecessarily wariness to the squid.

Catching squids is not only about movement, size, color, or flashing. There is also the factor "temperature." Saltwater fish are cold-blooded animals, and their body temperatures are thought to be slightly higher than the surrounding temperature. This is said to be the reason why the squids can accurately detect the location of baitfish and prey on them even at night when there is no light. The Warm Jacket technology was born out of these observations. Yamashita (야마시타) has also added the Warm Jacket technology in the Egi OH King Search squid jigs (에기). Cephalopods can distinguish their prey even by tiny variations in the prey’s body temperature. These differences from the surrounding temperature can be as small as 0,5⁰C or 1⁰C. The Warm jacket can retain heat much longer than any other fabric and thus, when we “charge” our squid jig (에기) with a UV flash light, the temperature created by the UV light emission, or even by simply holding the jig in our palm for a while, can generate the extra temperature that we need.

 

The Neon Bright technology is a breakthrough as it completely changes the conventional concept of Egis’ color. When an angler thinks of "UV reflection", he thinks of Keimura (a fluorescent purple color, which emits pale light when exposed to ultraviolet rays) and Glow (which stores the energy of Ultraviolet rays and emits yellow-green light). Fluorescence colors have the property of receiving the energy of ultraviolet light and converting it into visible light. The light wavelength variation in this, new series emits light in Red, Blue, or Green.

The Neon Bright, creates the optimum UV emission appeal. If the Egi is not exposed to ultraviolet rays, it has a clear body as shown in the photo below. But when it is exposed to ultraviolet rays, it emits Red, Blue, or Green like Neon colors.

There is one more technology that has been incorporated in the Yamashita Egi OH King Search Neon Bright Squid Jigs. In its studies, Yamashita (야마시타) also approached the field of vision of Squids and Cuttle fish. The company wanted to understand what kind of light is more effective and it found out that light emissions around 490nm (nanometers) are perceived more easily by cephalopods. Thus it developed the 490 Glow innovation and made Egi-Oh K Search squid jigs (에기) to emit light in this precise wave length. Part of the tail of the King Search jigs, have 490 Glowing elements, to attract squid attacks, close to the pins, especially when the squid is in the dark, or at night under dark underwater conditions. The appeal of the 490 glowing colors, further enhances the search capabilities of the particular squid jigs (에기).
