The Major Craft Solpara Ika Metal rod series includes affordable models, of incomparable quality, for effective handling of Ika.
Cephalopod fishing from a boat, has always been a fishing style that has fascinated fishermen around the world. Major Craft being the first company to develop rods for the Ika Metal technique, has had the experience and lead time, to further develop its product range on the specific fishing style and offer to its target market a variety of options, depending on the way each angler fishes squids, or the fishing conditions in the area. The Solpara Ika Metal rod series includes affordable models, of incomparable quality, for effective handling of Ika.
These are rods that have been designed to have a great bending curve and sensitivity, without lacking in strength, despite their Solid tip. The top section of the Solpara Ika Metal rods, has a characteristic fluoride color, that reacts to a UV flashlight and enables the user to easily see the tip vibrating to the slightest touch, even in the dark.
The range of the Solpara Ika Metal rods, includes models to cover every need in squid cephalopod fishing, from light rods for use in shallow water, to heavy Ika rods, that will fish at great depths and will handle large and fighting squids. The guides are Fuji O Concept, as well as the reel seat.
The SPXJ-S702HNS / ST is the model proposed by Major Craft for use in the deep end of the water column, with strong currents and the use of Ika between 30 to 120 g (10-30 号) with the ideal weight being between 70 and 80 g, always depending on the depth and current conditions. The SPXJ-S702HNS includes the strength needed to fish at great depths and difficult conditions even against big and fighting cephalopods. It can be rigged with Spinning reels.
The SPXJ-S702XH / OMORIG is the standard rod of the series, developed by Major Craft for the Omorig rig. Omorig rigging is widely used by Japanese fishermen, as it is more efficient when the presence of cephalopods is intense. The Omorig rigging offers us less sport fishing, but the pays off includes bringing aboard more than one cephalopod, per full retrieve. The Omorig consists of an Egi squid (# 2.5 - # 3.0) and an Ika Metal, or sinker, preferably fluorescent. The rod SPXJ-S702XH / Omorig is ideal for a relaxing fishing session in the Mediterranean, with the traditional, vertical type of fishing. It can be combined with Spinning reels.
Reel Seat Concept
The sturdy reel seat is also used for high-end Major Craft models, according to the target species. It is a design that allows the angler to handle the rod comfortably.

The rods’ guides have been arranged, in a well-balanced distribution, so for the optimum positioning to be achieved for each model and the characteristics of each rod to demonstrated. The Fuji O-Rings + Stainless Steel Frame, offer excellent feeling and sensitivity. The Baitcasting rods have a spiral guide setting.
