The Underground Zest Micro Jigs are available in sizes starting at 5 gr up to 15 gr and address the needs of Light Rock Fishing, Hard Rock Fishing and Light Spinning enthusiasts.
Despite their small size and low weight, the Underground Zest Micro jigs possesses an unusual design, which points towards Slow Jigging lures. This was a good enough reason for us to experiment with the Zest jigs. Each test we conducted, each cast was totally worth it, as the Zest revealed its potential for In-shore fishing.
The Underground Zest Micro Jigs are available in sizes starting at 5 gr up to 15 gr and address the needs of Light Rock Fishing, Hard Rock Fishing and Light Spinning enthusiasts. They are hybrid jigs, front weighted and their shape is anything but symmetrical on each side. One side is flat and the other starts slim in the rear and as it progresses to the front, it gains in volume. So it looks like half a pyramid.
Their target is an intensive presentation at any depth and current condition, along with a very lively sinking motion. The Zest have much in common with the Dup Step jigs, which you can see here with one basic difference in their philosophy: the intensive jerking. The Zest jigs respond in an unprecedented way to your rod’s jerks, creating an irregular, unpredictable motion pattern, with sudden drops and strong Wobbling in the rear.
During each pause, the drop of the Underground Zest is so realistic, that during the tests we performed we had to pay special attention as more than half of the strikes came at that stage. Initially it went horizontal producing a flutter causing the bottom end to rise up above the top, then it proceeded to dive in a sliding action while moving in a circle motion.
Whether you chose a fast presentation, or an approach with few jerks and long pauses, whether you let the reel’s pick up closed for Tension falling, or open for Free fall with your braid running free, the Underground Zest is the jig you need for Saddled or White Seabreams. In sandy coastlines, or in rocky shores, with Assist Hooks instead of Treble Hooks, one effective strategy which the Zest serves well due to its Slow character, is to allow it to touch the bottom, perform a few jerks and then let it sink again.
They have a quality finish you expect to find with Zest jigs and have nicely shaded detail including an eye on one side. The colour choice also gives plenty of options that will cater to the different preferences of fish on any given day.
Assist hooks, or Treble hook are not included.
