Many spinners are on the lookout for the one lure that will make a difference. One, which will stand out of the crowd of lures, providing that extra factor into their fishing sessions. The ZipBaits Whisper is such a thing precisely: it combines the virtues of Pencils and Minnows into something that looks (and truly is) different.

The Zip Baits Whisper is a unique minnow lure, that synchronizes with the water flow and blinks like a whisper.

Whisper in 127mm in length and it weighs 19.5 gr. It carries two very strong treble hooks and it is Slow Sinking and Silent. Its motion is a super tight rolling, or a “whisper roll”, making its presence known in a unique manner, as it is dictated by the flow of the current. To achieve this, ZBL created a unique lip design, that allows the water to flow and a flat body, similar to a shad.

But what exactly is it, in what category of lures does it belong? At a first glance the Whisper 127SY reminds us of heavy sinking Pencils for big game, but its lip gives us the impression of a Minnow. On the other hand, its flat profile implies another category of hard lures, jerkbaits. The truth about ZIpbaits’ Whisper 127SY is complicated. It surpasses every attempt of a classic categorization, as it incorporates the best qualities from different lure types, exploding its true potential. These characteristics make it a hybrid tool for Spinning aficionados that demand much more for their technical strategy.

With the Mag Drive technology this lure can cast incredibly far, to begin with. Its shape is aero and hydro-dynamic so its resistance during casting, but also in the water, is minimal. It easily wobbles and rolls more vividly, or more discreetly (depending on the speed and intensity of your steady retrieve). The ZBL Whisper becomes alive with every jerk and twitch in a super realistic way. Its flat profile captures a lot of light and spreads it around with every hit of our rod.

This minnow can swim around erratically, in a way that very few lures can mimic. Its sinking ability allows us to scan deeper pockets of water. Even during pause the ZipBaits Whisper flickers on the drop. It simply does not stop to be alive and agile from the moment it hits the water.

What else is amazing with Whisper is that it allows us to change so many strategies and presentations in one and only cast, with one and only lure. It is something of a novelty that has proven its worth in Seabass (with slower retrieves), in pelagic species (with its long cast ability and in high speed retrieves) and in Cudas (as an excellent jerkbait).

Finally, this Japanese lure has been fine tuned for weight, hook & ring weight setting. This bait is a silent hunter that stimulates the predatory instincts of Seabass. With regards to its buoyancy, the ZipBaits Whisper has Slow Sinking setting, but the setting corresponds to observations in Japanese estuaries. If you are fishing in shallow waters, by changing the hooks from size #4, to size # 5, the Whisper 127SY continues to sink at an even slower rate. In the Mediterranean however, due to the increased salinity, changing to # 3 treble hooks, will provide the same slow sinking performance as the standard setting.
