Many anglers choose to fish squid from the shore with their conventional, Spinning equipment, or with their Light Rock Fishing gear. In fact, one may ask “why not using a conventional rod to fish squids”? It can’t be done? Of course it can, but in the long term, what we miss out on, far supersedes what we gain. Let’s get more precise. We have to take under consideration what an Eging rod can offer us and in particular, we must examine its whole layout in order to understand why a Spinning rod makes our session more tiresome and sloppy, it leaves us “blind” and without an understanding of what happens in the water just in front of us.

• First of all, the rod must be extremely light weight, hence not tiresome. If, nevertheless we insist on a fast reel because our style of fishing is more fast and aggressive, or because we fish into much deeper water, we must employ the services of a rod that has a smooth, sensitive and progressive reaction, will ensure that no tentacle will be ripped off by any unwanted tension, even when a cephalopod has been superficially hooked. We need such specs, so that at any point, we can remain in touch with our Egi at the other end of our braid.
