Savage Gear 3D LB Swim Squid

Award Winning company, Savage Gear has indeed surpassed itself by setting new standards for realistic looking squid/cuttlefish lures, much to the enjoyment of Trolling and Jigging enthusiasts.

The new, long awaited 3D LB Swim Squid is based on its 3D Swim Squid predecessor, only to boost the standards to where no competitor ever has. The 3D LB Swim Squid is a PVC made, cephalopod-like lure which has the most realistic movement underwater, ever seen. You should really take a look at Savage Gear’s underwater footage to check its fins, its tentacles and its whole body moving like a real squid.

Realism at the highest level has been achieved by initially scanning a real life squid. Even the most weary fish will be tricked by it. Get ready for some savage strikes out there.

Its carefully selected color range includes natural Squid and Cuttlefish colors, glow, or otherwise. The colors are UV active and - the best part of all - the lure is squid scented. Every predatory sensation will be turned on: motion, odour, color, as the 3D LB Swim Squid smells, moves and looks like a true cephalopod.

In the very successful color range, two new colors were added in 2021 and it is worth mentioning the rationale behind their creation. The Savage Gear collection lacked a squid color in the palette of "Red", such as the Mediterranean squid. This red-brown color combination characterizes squids in two phases of everyday life; during the breeding phase of male squids and when they are active and hunting (males and females). Mediterranean predators know this very well and take advantage of it to launch surprise attacks, when their "mind" is elsewhere. This is how color Horny Squid was created and Savage Gear did not fail to give it a touch of green eyebrows, which makes it even more challenging and suitable for other seas beyond the Mediterranean.

Another color that finds ground in Greek waters is the White Glow Cuttlefish. This squid is produced in a reaction color, both for shallow and deep water. Its base is White Pearl, with intense fluorescent elements and Red UV, while its shape resembles more of cuttlefish. It will therefore provide solutions to both boat and in-shore fishing techniques.

3D LB Swim Squid’s major innovation lies in another crucial area as well. Savage Gear produced multiple rigging styles, with tailor made jig heads and thus multiple techniques can be explored, ranging from Spinning to Shore Jigging and from Slow Boat techniques, up to Trolling. Lets examine some of the capabilities of the 3D LB Squid a little closer. The 3D LB Swim Squid can be used in Medium and Light Spinning up to ΗRF with great success as far as the 5 gr / 9.5 cm models are concerned with the appropriate jigheads, or even weightless. A novelty as this one, that moves, smells and looks like something live will allow us to scan the water column, from top to bottom and will lure fish into savage strikes. Small artificial calamari are ideal snacks for big White Sea Breams, Saddled Sea Breams, Pandoras, Black Sea Breams, but also bigger predators such as Dentex, Barracudas and Amberjacks. Even with a plain, round jighead, jerk it just above the seabed, or in middle depth, retrieve it in a straight line steadily, or a bit faster. Boat fishing enthusiasts will also have their way, when the real thing is not available. They can resort to the next best thing, that being the Swim Squid, trustworthy alternative to live calamari bait. Rig it in you favorite style and choose from a wide array of colors and weights up to the massive big game 120 grams model.

The 3D LB Swim Squid will not leave Slow Jigging fans, unattended, as it form a worthy alternative. Slowly retrieving it from the deep will get those strikes almost at all depth levels, especially a few meters above the sea floor. Work the lure by retrieving the first 10-20 meters and then let it sink again. Repeat and start counting the strikes.

Back to the masculine Heavy Spinning and Shore Jigging game, as the heavier sizes of the model can be rigged for Heavy Spinning and Shore Jigging, or can be used with our heavy rods for Deep Spinning. Twitch it while in the deep, jerk it to the surface, or retrieve it slowly with pauses, so as to make it come alive.
