"Walking the Dog" action can be difficult to achieve with some top water baits. The Lucky Craft Sammy makes it easy and gives you unsurpassed top water performance. That's not all. Add to the Sammy offering the bass calling, glass rattles and the ultra natural coloring to top water bait that can be casted a long distance and this Lucky Craft lure becomes a must for all tackle boxes.
The Lucky Craft Sammy has three distinct characteristics; cupped face, posture and body shape. Not only does the Lucky Craft Sammy have incredible ‘Walk the Dog' action, but the cup-shaped face allows the bait to spit a tiny amount of water as it moves across the surface. Called the ‘Miracle Bait' by anglers across the country, the Sammy resembles a baitfish swimming across the surface and will greatly increase an angler's hook-up percentage.
Another very special characteristic of the Sammy is the standing posture. Sometimes bass aren't stimulated by the ‘Walk the Dog' action alone so the standing posture of the Sammy allows for a more realistic look in the water, which will attract more strikes. The body shape of a bait is important to catching fish. The banana-shaped body of the Sammy enhances the realistic look of the bait and - combined with the posture and side-to-side action – makes it hard for bass to resist.
When given the proper action, the Sammy will zigzag on the surface side to side like a wounded baitfish. When anglers cast out, they want the lure to make a big splash as it hits the water. They want to trick bass into thinking this big splash was made by another bass that just smacked a shad on the surface and see the injured Sammy limping away from the scene.
When bass hit a walking bait, they often miss it and many anglers believe that they can not see it because of all the surface disturbance. That is why they will follow walking baits for a while, trying to get a clear view of them. When they've seen enough, the bass will boil up behind it and blast a walking bait. Therefore never stop giving the Sammy the zigzag action with the rod tip even when a bass is cartwheeling all over it.
Also try on the Lucky Craft Sammy bigger hooks than what you would normally use. With the Sammy, the heavier hooks slow down the frantic, splashy action a little. The heavier hooks give the Sammy a bit slower, more stable zigzag that leaves a vee wake on the surface. This slower action helps sea bass hit them more accurately and the larger hooks are harder to avoid.
