The Neon Bright squid jigs (called in short Neobra) have been based on Yamashita's new technology, which makes the squid jigs shine like neon when it comes in contact with ultraviolet rays.
There is a new "Egi King" on the block, Japanese company Yamashita announced in a video that started a new page in the History of Egging book. The Neon Bright squid jigs (called in short Neobra) have been based on Yamashita's new technology, which makes the squid jigs shine like neon when it comes in contact with ultraviolet rays.
It has been 80 years since the company was founded, and since then it has been a leading manufacturer and an independent researcher of squid fishing for many years.
The Neon Bright technology is a breakthrough as it completely changes the conventional concept of Egis’ color. When an angler thinks of "UV reflection", he thinks of Keimura (a fluorescent purple color, which emits pale light when exposed to ultraviolet rays) and Glow (which stores the energy of Ultraviolet rays and emits yellow-green light). Fluorescence colors have the property of receiving the energy of ultraviolet light and converting it into visible light and depending on the wavelength of the color, the way it emits light differs from red, blue, and green.
The Neon Bright is the next step forward.
The Neon Bright, creates the optimum UV emission appeal. If the Egi is not exposed to ultraviolet rays, it has a clear body as shown in the photo below.
But when it is exposed to ultraviolet rays, it emits red, blue, and green like neon colors.
What is the secret of this new technology, developed by Yamashita? The Keimura color (pale light emitted when exposed to ultraviolet rays) has become a standard in the Egging scene these days. And it has been a successful development, as the Keimura colors appeal to squids. Many anglers may have experienced the response of squids to Keimura colors, when nothing else works. So that was the starting point for Yamashita staff, who began to research whether there is a Keimura color that can appeal to squids even more. So they started working on developing materials that offer new possibilities in UV color emissions. That was the birth of the "Neon Bright."
It is believed that squids have an excellent ability to distinguish the shades of colors and the amount of light. There are 6 color variations being produced by Yamashita. These combinations are distinguished as per the color of the base and the color of the back.
One easy way to distinguish the the color variations of Neobra, especially the color of the base (color of neon) is through the color of the cloth on the lateral line. If the color of the cloth on the lateral line is red, it emits red NBR, if it is blue, it emits blue, and if it is green, it emits green.
NBR – Neon Bright Red
This is the recommended – by Japanese anglers, hence it might differ in Europe - neon bright for morning and evening Eging sessions, which is the time when the activity of squids is good. The Neon Bright Red (NBR) appeals to squids even in low UV conditions.
- Color 062 is a color that combines a red neon bright body, with a pink back that is easy for squids to recognize. In addition, this color combination is easy for humans to see, so it is easy to check the exact position of the egi, hence it is effective for site fishing.
- Color 063 is a silhouette-conscious color that plays an active role during in night games from early evening. The red background is a color that looks black when viewed from the big fin squids and the silhouette of the jig is clear.
NBG - Neon Bright Green
If the water is murky and visibility is low, it is difficult for ultraviolet rays to reach far, so Yamashita avoided the Keimura colors that emit ultraviolet rays. However, the introduction of neon bright green (NBG), creates a prominent effect, makes the presence of the squid jig known and offers anglers the possibility to fish cephalopods even in such conditions.
- Color 064 - The combination of the green neon and the bright body capture the attention of hunting squids in murky, or low visibility water.
- Color 065 is a color that combines a green neon bright body and has been noted to be effective when the activity of squids decreases due to changes in the water temperature, or after rain.
NBB - Neon Bright Blue
The Neobra Blue is recommended for situations when the water is clear and there is high transparency. Neobra Blue emits light firmly, even in situations where there is less ultraviolet light than usual.
- Color 066 is a dangerous squid jig with a blue background and a blue neon color. It has a neutral color that blends well with clear water.
- Color 067 is the one Yamashita Egi Oh Live with the most intensive body color. Its neon bright appeal is the strongest amongst all colors. Under conditions such as daytime and clear skies, Color 067 appeals to squids from a distance by emitting ultraviolet rays and flashing.
