The traditional Opinel N⁰08 knife is once again adorned with a new type of wood, namely Snakewood. This wood comes from Guyana and has a unique grain, with light and dark tones reminiscent of a snake's skin.
Simple, sturdy and effective, the limited series knife features an 8.5 cm blade with double polishing for a mirror effect and an oiled wooden handle.
Stainless Steel Sandvik 12C27
Opinel uses Sandvik 12C27, modified stainless steel for its knives. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge. Blade hardness is 57-58 HRC
Handle
The handle of the N°08 snake comes from Guyana and has an original veining evoking the skin of a snake.
Virobloc
The Virobloc Safety Ring was invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives, from the N° 06 size. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
Cleaning
With your Opinel open, run warm water on the blade and wipe with a sponge and washing-up liquid. Rinse the blade with warm water while taking care not to soak the wooden handle. Leave the blade to dry before closing (this is not necessary for plastic handles).
Important: Do not immerse your knife in water as this could warp the wooden handle.
