The Salty Dog 100 comes with all the standards that make it a classic lure, especially designed for the Walk the Dog technique.
Italian company Jack Fin has linked its name to the best top water lures in the world. Stylo is a, by all means, legendary lure in terms of fishes caught and one with hundreds of attempted efforts to copy. Every new lure by Jack Fin stirs the waters (especially the upper layers) at an international level.
The Salty Dog 100 comes with all the standards that make it a classic lure, especially designed for the Walk the Dog technique. The perfection achieved in hand-made lures, is incomparable. Jack Fin’s lures are 100% handmade during the entire production process. The end result is amazing, as each and every lure is perfect in every aspect of it, when it hits the market. This perfection that can only be achieved by a human hand and cannot be copied by any machine.
Salty Dog’s science and form is exceptional. It comes in 10 cm and 20 gr, characteristics that make it perfect, as a top water lure for Mediterranean waters and for medium spinning. It can lure every predator that feeds with top water lures, with a special preference towards Seabass fishing.
Get your hands on a Salty Dog and check out the V shape it forms. Its upper part is far wider than the lower part. This form provides an unsurpassable stability and balance even in rough conditions with strong wind and waves.
Its color range is carefully selected and the colors are as vivid as no other mass production lure. The varnish layers are reinforced and the finishing will stand the test of time and battles against prey with sharp teeth. The metallic eyelet frame is a wire-though construction, hence the Salty Dog can withstand vicious attacks. The treble hooks and split rings are of top notch quality.
What impresses every angler who will come across a handmade Jack Fin is the company’s obsession to pay inconceivable attention to every tiny detail on the lure. Scales, head details, fins, bloody gills, amazing details carved into the wood, making a real looking fish of prey. The Salty Dogs are a marvel even to look upon.
But the most important thing in a lure is to finally work, after every decorative detail is in place. The Jack Fin Salty Dogs are without exaggeration the most user friendly top water lure, in their field. The WtD fishing style is considered something potentially more refined and somewhat difficult, as it demands a very good combination of twitches and retrieve and the lure to be constantly in sight. As far as the Salty Dog is considered it is amazing how easily one can achieve the zig zag WtD movement, with the slightest of effort. It is even more amazing to know that this movement, no matter how fast, or erratic it might be, it will maintain its precision. All in all, the Salty Dog lure, is a hand made bait that provides the most precise WtD movement that there is and it already scores as one of the top lures worldwide in its field.
How to work the Jack Fin Salty Stage: The Walk the Dog technique demands a very good coordination and precision between jerks, twitches and cranks of the reel. By holding the tip of our rod low and by trembling our hand with slight, but sharp twitches while retrieving our lure, we will very easily succeed in making the Salty Dog walk right on the surface in a right and left pattern.
With slower twitches and with a relatively steady retrieve Salty Dog will perform a wide WtD action as it will also slightly plunge underwater with every zig zag move. With faster twitches the WtD action becomes narrower in angle. Now if we combine the two and add some pauses in between, then we create our own realistic presentation of a small wounded fish that is available on the surface.
If we reel-in hard and fast, while twitching slightly, the lure will skip. More advanced anglers will appreciate that with the correct speed and pressure of the rod’s tip, Salty Dog can perform an underwater WtD movement. And that’s not all. With sharp and strong twitches it will plunge underwater momentarily and will resurface, a movement that drives Seabass crazy. On the other hand, if we reel it in very gently, it will slightly roll, an effective motion which if combined with its silent nature, will give us very good results in days when fish are suspicious and eat very hesitantly.
Salty Dog excels in every possible trick within the boundaries of the Walk the Dog technique. It is a true jewel, not only aesthetically, but also practically. The pinnacle of WtD lures in any case.
