The aim of this model is to ensure a horizontal posture, both during jigs and fall and to remain in that position – so predators can look at the side of the body - for as long as possible. As a result the weight center was a major factor in the making of this jig and once Palms stroke the right balance, the Slow Blatt was up for heavy games.
During the “jerking” session, the jig assumes a horizontal position, as it falls during pauses. This posture slows down the jig and increases the appeal to the target fish. When the Slow Blatt jig drops, it produces a flashing effect and a fall in an irregular pattern, that interchanges between the thick and the slim side of the body. Both sides resemble a boat’s keel, only one side more than the other.
Depending on the way you are looking at the jig, you will notice that its shape is not symmetrical. It has a wide profile, which gives it a fluttering leaf action in the water.
From advanced to beginner, anyone can work this jig. Just drop it and let it work its own magic. The sliding / spiral action drives fish crazy, as it is simulating an injured, or scared baitfish. When, or if it gets to the bottom, just lift the rod again and then drop the tip down and let it drift and slide. It is allowing the jig to do this that will entice the fish to bite.
Keep an eye on your line when it is 'sliding' as fish will regularly hit the jig, or pick it up at this point. If it stays slack, wind and strike.
